Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk.

Business Card Data

Information you voluntarily provide for your digital business card, including: full name, job title, company name, email address, phone number, website URL, social media links (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, WhatsApp, Telegram), profile photos, and company logos.

Card View Analytics

We track views of your published business card, including the view source (direct link or QR scan) and timestamp. We also collect anonymized product usage analytics such as page views, feature interactions, and button clicks to help us understand how the service is used and improve it.

Lead Capture Data

When visitors choose to leave their contact information on your card (if you have lead capture enabled), we collect their name, email address, and optionally their phone number.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Polar.sh. We do not store credit card numbers or payment method details. We only store subscription status, plan type, and billing dates.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Kilala service
• Display your business card to people you share it with
• Track card views and provide analytics
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Communicate with you about your account or service updates
• Deliver captured leads to card owners

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Kilala:

• Clerk — authentication and user management. Clerk processes your email and name for account creation and login.
• Polar.sh — payment processing and subscription management. Polar.sh handles all payment transactions securely.
• UploadThing — file uploads for profile photos and company logos. Uploaded images are stored on their infrastructure.
• PostHog — product analytics. PostHog collects anonymized usage data such as page views, feature interactions, and button clicks to help us understand how the service is used and improve it. PostHog may use cookies or local storage for session tracking.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.

Cookies

Kilala uses essential cookies required for authentication and session management through Clerk. We also use cookies and local storage for product analytics through PostHog to understand how the service is used. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including your business cards, card views, captured leads, and subscription information — will be permanently deleted from our systems.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Update or correct your information at any time through the app
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your business card data

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Kilala is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
